Choosing between matt and gloss kitchen finishes
Both look excellent in a showroom. The difference shows up in the room you actually live in.

Gloss bounces light around, which can help a darker or smaller room feel brighter. It also shows fingerprints and dust more readily, particularly in darker colours.
Matt has become the more popular contemporary choice. It reads as softer and more architectural, and it hides everyday marks better — though very dark matt colours still show dust.
Consider the light your room gets. North-facing rooms behave very differently from a south-facing extension with rooflights.
Mixing is entirely legitimate: matt tall units with a contrasting island, or gloss wall units above matt bases. Seeing samples side by side is the quickest way to decide.
